Fall Comes Home

Well, it has been a pretty busy week at home.   Katie had her normal activities of her classes for her Master's program and Orchestra and Jim was out of town for work at barge loading facilities in Mississippi and Arkansas.

Friar's Point, MS

Katie, Jim and Alec also partook in an annual combined family tradition (Rob, Jenny, Wyatt and Kaylee Vetter being the other family) of apple picking.  This is the first year that we did not go to the orchard in Afton.   Afton is just getting too busy, crowded, and crazy overall.  We traveled south to Applewood Orchard in Lakeville where we were able to walk right into the orchard instead of riding the tractor-pulled hay cart.  Maybe next year when Alec is walking!

This year we picked about 2-3 dozen Cortland apples.  Mostly for pie baking...but some for eating.  There were a lot of apples that were beat up by the hail storms we had this year, but they will bake up just fine.

So if you didn't go to Afton for the apples, where did you go? The side of the road? :)
